Persons with disabilities represent 15% of today’s world population. The United Nations International Day on 3 December has been observed since 1992. The theme for 2019 is ‘Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda’. In the European Union, the European Disability Strategy 2010-2020 aims at eliminating barriers in eight main areas, among which employment, education & training, and social protection.

IndustriAll Europe’s Equal Opportunities work group reinforced in its meeting on 25 November its commitment to make the voice of persons with disabilities heard in all our industries.
