The main objective of the MMP is to encourage young people to increase their intra-EU mobility and to seek job opportunities across Europe.
The Mobility & Mentoring Portal (MMP), the result of a two-year social partner project funded by the European Commission.
The portal is designed for young people trained or educated in any field related to the chemical, pharmaceutical, rubber and plastics industries who would consider moving to another EU country for work purposes. Through the portal they will be connected with a suitable mentor working in the chemical industry in the country s/he chooses. Over 150 mentors from different companies across Europe have been trained by the project partners and are included in the MMP database.
The project partners are actively involved in monitoring the process and in helping mentors and mentees to ensure the success of the portal.
The main objective of the MMP is to encourage young people to increase their intra-EU mobility and to seek job opportunities across Europe.
The focus lies on offering young people with different academic and vocational training backgrounds qualified support through a dedicated mentoring network, supported by both employees and employers, to help them to improve their working lives.
Through direct and personal exchange with the mentee, the mentors can provide a first-hand overview of the working conditions and cultural environment of their country, as well as practical information and support on topics including cost of living, housing situation, social security, general health insurance or family matters.
Though the portal is specifically designed for the chemical sector, if proven successful it has the potential to be extended to other sectors and serve cross-sectoral purposes.
The project partners are actively looking for further mentors and would like to encourage anyone who is interested and feels qualified to contact them in order to keep the database of mentors growing.
